It was the fight fans were waiting for. The people’s main event. But after two rounds, it was a doctor, not Cowboy Cerrone or Tony Ferguson, who put an end to the planned three rounds between Cowboy and El Cucuy.
You know a fight card is great when two of the most beloved fighters aren’t the main event or the co-main event. At UFC 238, it was just that – Donald Cerrone versus Tony Ferguson. Two of the most loved fighters in the UFC. While being adored, they’re also entertaining when inside the Octagon. Their fight was no different, all the way up until the unfortunate ending.
That saw Donald Cerrone with a broken nose (not helped by a late punch at the end of the second from Ferguson) and a swollen eye. Cowboy made the crucial mistake of blow airing out his broken nose. His face immediately ballooned up, and the doctor was brought in, waving off the fight. Ferguson earned the TKO win, but not how he wanted.
Here are some of the best reactions for Donald Cerrone versus Tony Ferguson at UFC 238!

Tony Ferguson is a TKO winner over Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone after Cerrone is deemed unable to continue after his right eye completely closed up.
Ferguson has now won 12 fights in a row, the longest active streak in UFC. pic.twitter.com/mTpUhbY7Ov

Donald Cerrone is a mad man but that’s why we love him.
Cerrone was trying to pop the blood in his eye to reduce the swelling. Damn!

It was great while it lasted!
I knew it was too good to be true. #UFC238

Indeed a fun fight for as long as it lasted.
Not the ending we all wanted but the fight certainly delivered imo.
Took him a round to get his rhythm but Ferguson looked incredible. Relentless cardio/pressure and he's just so freaking creative!! #UFC238

Crazy that the guy who won was more bummed than the guy who lost.
Really feel bad for both guys. Cowboy class act. Tony looks like he has tears in his eyes and is upset with himself. Both guys handling it very well. #UFC238
