Born and raised in Welland, a city in Ontario, Canada, Romero is still living there today. Romero has been involved in martial arts since he was five-years-old starting with taekwondo. After a local gym opened up around Romero and he joined and later on joined Brock University to improve his wrestling and boxing. He always wanted to be a professional athlete and seeing so many succeed in MMA, he decided to go that rout. In May of 2015, Romer made his MMA debut as an amateur. He went 9-1 as an amateur winning three separate titles for different promotions. Romero made his pro debut in November of 2017 for KOTC, a well-known regional promotion. He is now under an exclusive contract for KOTC with one fight left on his contract. Pro and amateur combined, Romero is on a 13-fight win streak.
