This week on Throwin’ Elbows MMA, Dan and Heath discuss Jorge Masvidal’s two victories from UFC London, the huge ESPN+ PPV deal, and how they’ll help you get to college.
Throwin’ Elbows MMA is a weekly podcast hosted by Cageside Press Senior Editor Dan Doherty and Staff Writer Heath Harshman. Heath also won the staff picks competition two years in a row, but that’s beside the point.
This week, the guys gave their thoughts on UFC London where Darren Till (and his corpse) should go from here. Jorge Masvidal and his three-piece and a soda were certainly a topic of discussion as the guys begged UFC matchmakers to have Masvidal fight Leon Edwards next. Then Heath and Dan hit a fork in the road when discussing the Volkan Oezdemir vs. Dominick Reyes decision, with Dan being firmly on Team Volkan and Heath kickstarting his Reyes bandwagon.
From there, it was it was on to News Articles and Stuff Like That, where the guys tried to make sense of the UFC’s pay-per-view deal with ESPN. Ultimately, they came to the conclusion that this will get better over time and it’s just a sign that the UFC and ESPN are lovers and are very excited to move in together.
After paying respects to Tony Ferguson’s unfortunate situation and giving an update on Conor McGregor’s cell-phone scandal, it was time to discuss the recently announced fights. Those announced fights look awesome, from Donald Cerrone vs. Al Iaquinta, to Belal Muhammad vs. Curtis Millender. Also, it looks like Rose Namajunas will headline UFC 237, and that (like the poster) is awesome.
To cap off the episode, UFC Nashville was previewed as the guys tried to figure out how Anthony Pettis could possibly beat Stephen Thompson.
