After some speculation, it’s been revealed that issues at Tony Ferguson’s home have resulted in his wife filing a restraining order against the former UFC interim lightweight champion.

MMA Junkie unveiled both online records of the restraining order filed by Christina Ferguson and police reports from the home of Tony Ferguson.

After the interim lightweight title fight between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway was scheduled for UFC 236, many wondered why Ferguson was not involved. It was initially said that Ferguson turned down the fight. Then Dana White explained that Ferguson was going through “a lot of personal issues” in an Instagram comment. Now we know the extent of these issues.

Unfortunately, Ferguson has become increasingly erratic according to the details in these reports. Quoting MMA Junkie’s report:

Police spoke to an unidentified female who stated Tony Ferguson had “not slept for three days and was tearing apart the home” and “broke apart the fire place and believed someone placed a (computer) chip in his leg.” An unidentified male who’d called the police said the fighter had told him “someone was inside his walls.”

Their child has been involved too. While Christina Ferguson was away, Tony took their two-year-old son to their home and changed the locks. While all of his acts are very concerning, a consistent and relieving detail is that Ferguson has not been violent during any of these incidents.

Tony Ferguson, at the request of police, has seen a doctor, and was deemed to not be a danger to himself or others. Nonetheless, Ferguson does not seem to be in the right state of mind to perform at the highest level in the UFC.

Ferguson has an 11-fight win streak and was the interim lightweight champion before a knee injury caused the UFC to strip him of the belt. He last fought in October 2018.
