As the UFC continues to expand on its roster of European talent, one of the latest additions is Italian-Macedonian Alen Amedovski.

Macedonia, a country nestled on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe, isn’t exactly known as an MMA powerhouse. As far as we can tell, there are only twenty-five or so MMA fighters from the country, and UFC has easily signed the best fighter out of Macedonia in Alen Amedovski. As of now a debut date and opponent is unknown. But welcome to the UFC, Alen Amedovski.

Get to know Alen Amedovski:

Born on April 6th, 1988, Amedovski began his career on November 25, 2011 with no prior amateur bouts. He fought mainly in Italy his entire career, including one fight in Rome. Interestingly, Amedovski fought for Bellator in his past two fights, with two first-round finishes including one over Straight Blast Gym Ireland’s Will Fleury. He certainty doesn’t get paid by the hour as the ATT Rome fighter has a 100% finish rate, with six finishes in the first round.

How will Alen Amedovski fare in the UFC?

The only thing worrisome about Amedovski is his takedown defense. He’s been taken down a few times against lesser wrestlers. With that said, he does attack well off his back and while he does not have any submissions, he still is more than willing to attempt them.

Going forward, however, he will have to defend better and his reaction speed will have to be up to par. Cardio is also a question as he’s only gone two rounds, and did look to slow a bit as fights wore on. On the plus side, when watching Amedovski your one word to describe him would be power. When Alen lands clean, most likely it’s sending his opponent crashing to the mat. His right hand is his best weapon but he does a great job throwing with both the right and the left. Amedovski does have a ground game to fall back on where his transitions are solid, but it’s not his strong suit. Overall, he will provide some highlight knockouts but against good wrestlers, he may come up short.
