UFC lightweight Alex Gorgees appears to be out of his fight with Jalin Turner at next month’s UFC 234 in Melbourne, Australia.

Earlier this month, news broke via MMA Today that Alex Gorgees was set to take on Jalin Turner in a lightweight clash. The report was later confirmed by News.com.au. With that said, sources close to the situation confirmed to Cageside Press Wednesday that Gorgees was forced to pull out of the fight.

Gorgees (7-1) was looking to bounce back from a short notice loss to Damir Ismagulov in his octagon debut. As of now, there is no word on why Gorgees has been forced off the card. The UFC has not commented on the situation.

Jalin Turner (7-4) is another fighter who came up short in his debut against Vicente Luque. That came back at UFC 229 in Las Vegas, the infamous McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov card. Now, he’s looking to get his first win inside the octagon, and is also awaiting a new opponent for UFC 234.

The event takes place at the Rod Laver Arena on February 10, 2019 (February 9 in North America) in Melbourne, Australia. Robert Whittaker defends his middleweight title against Kelvin Gastelum in the main event. UFC 234 is the next PPV following UFC 232, with UFC 233 in Anaheim having been removed from the promotion’s schedule.
