The PFL’s 2018 season was set to come to a close with PFL 11 on New Year’s Eve — and on Friday, the promotion hosted a press conference ahead of the championship as the drive to the finals continued.
The PFL 2018 Championship takes place New Year’s Eve in New York City, wrapping up a season-long tournament and crowning not just champions but millionaires. PFL 11, as the championship is numerically known, was set to feature six title fights, plus the third appearance by women’s lightweight star and Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison. While Harrison’s weight class was set to join the league in 2019, the finales of the 2018 season would feature the men’s weight classes from featherweight on up to heavyweight.
Among those competing for a million dollars, former UFC heavyweight Josh Copeland, who was set to face Brazil’s Philipe Lins. At light heavyweight, meanwhile, feared jiu-jitsu ace Vinny Magalhaes would meet with fellow UFC vet Sean O’Connell, who had doubled during the regular season as a member of the PFL broadcast team.
Breakout star Ray Cooper topped the card, taking on Magomed Magomedkerimov in welterweight action.
