With Borys Mankowski hurt, KSW welterweight champ Roberto Soldic steps in on short notice at next month’s KSW 46.
An injury sustained by former champ Borys Mankowski has forced him off the KSW 46 card. In a press release distributed on Monday, the Poland-based MMA promotion announced that Mankowski’s return was on hold, with the fighter hurt. In his place, reigning welterweight champion Roberto Soldic steps in, facing Vinicius Bohrer in a catchweight, non-title fight.
“Losing the long awaited return of Borys Mankowski was a blow to the card but these things happen in MMA,” said KSW co-owner Maciej Kawulski. “The event itself is essentially sold out but we still worked hard on finding a suitable replacement for the KSW fans and we certainly have that in Roberto Soldic. Over the past year Soldic has emerged as one of the biggest stars in KSW and I am excited to see how this late notice fight with Vinicius Bohrer, who has an amazing opportunity right here, plays out.”
Soldic (14-3) won the title from Mankowski at KSW 41. He then engaged in a pair of fights with South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis, losing the first but reclaiming the title by knocking Du Plessis out at KSW 45 in October.
Brazil’s Vinicius Bohrer (16-6) will be making his KSW debut, and comes into the fight on a two fight win streak. Both wins came via submission.
Injury has also befallen Gracjan Szadzinski; he has been replaced by Grzegorz Szulakowski against Marian Ziolkowsk.
KSW 46 takes place December 1 in Gliwice, Poland.
