Combate Americas has announced a new main event for their card in Monterrey, Mexico as Erik “Goyito” Perez will take on promotional newcomer Andres Ayala.

Combate Americas revealed today that their previously announced card in Monterrey on November 17 will feature a new main event. The show will now be headlined by bantamweight stand-out Érik Perez as ‘Goyito’ faces Andres “Double A” Ayala.

Perez will now be headlining the event in his native Monterrey over the previously announced fight between José Estrada and Levy Marroquin, which remains on the card.  Perez was scheduled to face John Castaneda on October 13 before Castaneda was forced to withdraw just days out from the event with a staph infection. Perez was unable to remain on that card.  It was widely expected that the fight would have determined the next challenger for new bantamweight champion José Alday.

“Goyito” became one of the biggest stars in the company when he announced he was signing with Combate Americas after leaving the UFC with a 7-2 record and being ranked in the top ten.  It is expected that Perez will still challenge Alday in a huge event for the company in 2019 with a victory.

Andres Ayala was previously set to make his Combate Americas debut last November as the representative for Colombia in the Copa Combate but was removed from the one-night tournament after missing weight.  His absence and others opened the door for eventual winner Levy Marroquin to step in as an alternate.  Ayala has gone 1-1 since then in other promotions and has a 12-6 record overall.

Also announced for the November 17 event is an atomweight contest between Spanish stand-out Irene “La Nina” Cabello Rivera and Yajaira Romo.  Cabello made her Combate Americas debut earlier this year after having previously competed in RIZIN while Romo will be making her fourth appearance for the promotion.

The card in Monterrey will also be a family affair for headliner Érik Perez as both his older and younger brothers, Ivan and Jair, will be making their debuts for the company on the prelims.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Gimnasio Nuevo León Unido in Monterrey, Mexico on November 17 and will be simulcast on DAZN in English and on Univision in Spanish.
