James McSweeney vs. Michal Andryszak is the latest addition to KSW 45 in London, England next month.
British heavyweight veteran James McSweeney will take another stab at getting back in the KSW cage. In a press release Tuesday, the promotion announced that McSweeney, who appeared on season ten of The Ultimate Fighter and competed three times for the UFC, will take on Polish heavyweight Michal Andryszak at KSW 45 later this year.
Over the past few years, McSweeney has competed with both ONE Championship and KSW, among other promotions. McSweeney (15-16) last fought in May outside of KSW, losing a unanimous decision against Fernando Rodrigues Jr. However, last year, with a scheduled bout pending against Mariusz Pudzianowski at KSW 40, McSweeney was pulled from the card following an issue getting medical clearance from Safe MMA UK. That followed McSweeney publicly stating he’d suffered a stroke, and been diagnosed with epilepsy.
The Rodrigues fight, under at Superior Challenge 17, was his first pro bout since 2016. Tuesday’s press release makes no mention of the Safe MMA situation.
Opposite the heavyweight vet at KSW 45, set for London, England, will be Michal Andryszak (20-7). Andryszak is coming off a title fight loss against Phil De Fries at KSW 43 earlier this year. Prior to that, he’d amassed a six fight win streak.
KSW 45 takes place October 6, 2018 at the SSE Arena Wembley in London, England.
