It was impossible not to be impressed by Justin Gaethje’s punishing knockout of James Vick in the UFC Lincoln main event. Here’s how the pros reacted.

UFC Lincoln’s main event had a grudge match. It also had Justin Gaethje. Forget ‘The Highlight,’ he should be called ‘The Highlight Reel.’ A human highlight reel, frankly. Prior to Lincoln’s main event, Gaethje had fought in the UFC three times. In that span, he’d earned Fight of the Night in every bout, Fight of the Year, and a Performance of the Night award. That, despite being just 1-2 in those three bouts.

James Vick? He was on a solid streak coming in, and towered over the lightweight division at 6 foot 3.

In the end, however, neither the height nor the streak mattered. After dealing with Vick’s length and height through the first minute or so, Gaethje moved inside. And with an overhand right, he put the lights out on James Vick. The bigger man went crashing to the canvas like a tree felled in the woods. He was frankly out before he hit the mat.

Who Justin Gaethje faces next is the big question. He took little to no damage against Vick, and is one of the biggest names in the lightweight division — except, of course, for Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. While Gaethje called for Tony Ferguson post-fight, he’s paired up with Anthony Pettis. Gaethje jokingly asked Paul Felder during their interview if Felder wanted to fight him, then said he’d hold out for Ferguson.

Whoever Gaethje gets, however, expect fireworks.
