There’s going to be plenty of light heavyweight action in Moncton this fall, as a pair of 205lb tilts have been added to UFC Fight Night 138 in addition to the main event of Anthony Smith vs. Volkan Oezdemir.
The UFC’s debut in Moncton, New Brunswick this October continues to take shape. The promotion announced a pair of bouts for the UFC Moncton card on Tuesday afternoon, featuring a four-pack of light heavyweights sure to bring some explosive action to Canada’s East Coast. In the pairings unveiled Tuesday, Canada’s own Misha Cirkunov will face Patrick Cummins, while Ed Herman and Gian Villante also collide.

Cirkunov (13-4) was on an impressive streak at light heavyweight, before being derailed by back-to-back losses against top contenders Volkan Oezdemir and Glover Teixeira. Both losses came via finish, and Cirkunov is now in something of a precarious situation heading into Moncton, which will mark his fifth UFC fight on Canadian soil.
Prior to this rough patch, Cirkunov had won eight straight, four of which came under the UFC banner. Against Patrick Cummins (10-5), he gets a standout wrestler who has also hit a rough patch. Cummins, 2-3 is his last five, most recently lost to Corey Anderson at UFC Atlantic City.

Gian Villante (16-10), meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a loss to Smile’N Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night 131. 1-3 in his past four, Villante’s lone win came against Francimar Barroso. His other losses in that stretch came to Cummins, and Shogun Rua.
Ed Herman (23-13, 1 NC), meanwhile, has lost two straight, and is just 1-2 since returning to light heavyweight in 2016.
UFC Moncton, numerically UFC Fight Night 138, takes place October 27 at the Moncton Events Center in Moncton, New Brunswick.
