The UFC continues to turn its focus on the emerging Chinese market for MMA as it makes it debut in Beijing, China this November.
The UFC will return to mainland China later this year, the promotion announced over the weekend. In a release Saturday, UFC officials unveiled that the company would host its follow-up to UFC Shanghai in Beijing, China on November 24. Early bird tickets were announced as immediately being on sale.
The world’s leading MMA promotion made its mainland China debut last November in Shanghai, where UFC Fight Night 122 was headlined by Kelvin Gastelum vs. Michael Bisping. Bisping was infamously making a short notice turnaround from his loss to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 217, and wound up knocked out by Gastelum in what would turn out to be the final fight of ‘The Count’s’ career.
While no bouts have been announced for UFC Fight Night 141 in Beijing, it will be hard to top the main event of the Shanghai card. That said, expect a wealth of Chinese talent, as the sport of MMA continues to grow in the region.
“China is the next frontier for the growth of UFC and the sport of mixed martial arts, and this market is paramount to our success internationally,” UFC Vice President of Asia-Pacific Kevin Chang was quoted as saying. “We are excited to bring our next live event to China’s capital and show the world just how far we have come.”
UFC Beijing, or UFC Fight Night 141, will take place November 24 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China.
