The UFC has another potential Fight of the Year in August, when Justin Gaethje vs. Al Iaquinta goes down as the UFC Lincoln main event.

Despite Iaquinta’s recent comments to the contrary, it appears the most violent man in the lightweight division (with apologies to Eddie Alvarez) will in fact meet one very irate real estate agent at UFC Lincoln. UFC officials announced late Wednesday that Justin Gaethje vs. Al Iaquinta was a go for the Nebraska card. The fight will serve as the evening’s main event.

Though just 1-2 in the UFC to date, every fight former WSOF champion Justin Gaethje (18-2) has been in thus far has been must-see TV. A native of Arizona fighting out of Colorado, ‘The Highlight’ has a style best described as all out insanity: walking forward and throwing at all times. That, despite possessing high caliber wrestling. Though criticized for the amount of damage he’s willing to incur in fights, Gaethje has shown zero signs of changing his ways.

Perhaps that wrestling will come out against Al Iaquinta. Iaquinta (13–4–1) most recently won a lottery of sorts to get a shot at the UFC lightweight championship. That was thanks to Tony Ferguson falling injured, Conor McGregor attacking a bus, and the NY State Athletic Commission having little idea of what they’re doing. In any case, ‘Ragin’ Al got his crack at gold against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 in April, going the distance but ultimately falling short.

He’ll look to get back in the win column against the tough-as-nails Gaethje, in a fight that promises to bring fireworks all out nuclear war.

UFC Lincoln, also known as UFC Fight Night 135, takes place August 25 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
