Joanna Jedrzejczyk will be holding off on a jump to flyweight at least a little longer, as she has been booked to meet Tecia Torres at UFC Calgary.

While UFC faithful wait for word on whether UFC flyweight champ Nicco Montano will defend her 125lb title in Calgary, the promotion has booked another big name fight on the women’s side. Added to the UFC Calgary line-up is a strawweight bout between former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Tecia Torres. The promotion officially announced the news Wednesday via social media. The booking also puts to rest the idea that Poland’s Jedrzejczyk would move to flyweight, at least for now.

Jedrzejczyk (14-2), after dominating the 115lb weight class for years, has lost back-to-back bouts to Rose Namajunas that cost her both her title, and saw her falter in her immediate rematch. That leaves the former champion in limbo, 0-2 against the reigning Queen. Many expected her to head north to the flyweight ranks, where she’d avoid a grueling weight cut and have plenty of fresh challenges. Yet a bout with Torres is just as attractive in theory, though should she defeat the ‘Tiny Tornado’ there’s a question as to whether the UFC would really want to fast track her to a third fight with champ Rose.

Tecia Torres (10-2), for her part, will enter UFC Calgary off a loss to Jessica Andrade. That snapped a three-fight winning streak for Torres, who had collected wins over Bec Rawlings, Juliana Lima, and Michelle Waterson.

UFC Calgary, a.k.a. UFC on Fox 30, goes down at the Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta on July 28.
