ONE Championship returned to Manila, Philippines on Friday, with Kevin Belingon finishing Andrew Leone in the main event — and the debut of the five rope ring in ONE.
ONE Championship was busy Friday evening (Friday morning for those in the west), returning to Manilla with ONE Championship: Heroes of Honor. The card marked a number of firsts: the first bouts in the ONE Super Series Kickboxing and Muay Thai offerings. And the first use of a five-rope ring in ONE Championship, which was utilized for both the kickboxing and MMA bouts throughout the evening.
In the main event (contested under MMA rules), bantamweight standout Kevin Belingon took less than three rounds to finish off opponent Andrew Leone. Belingon was strong out of the gate, and refused to let up. In the second, the finish was set up with a spinning kick that sent Leone falling to the canvas, where he fell victim to a barrage of blows until the ref made the save.
Also on the card, former featherweight champion Marat Gafurov made quick work of Emilio Urrutia, submitting him via arm-triangle choke within the first half of the very first round.
