Brian Moore rocked Giorgio Belsanti early at Bellator 196, setting the stage for a submission finish later in the round.
In featherweight action on the Bellator 196 main card, Ireland’s Brian Moore made the trip to Hungary to take on Italy’s Giorgio Belsanti. The event aired on the Paramount Network stateside Friday night via tape delay, with Moore vs. Belsanti serving as the second fight of the main card.
Moore and Belsanti opened up fast and furious, but Belsanti was almost immediately caught with a hard punch that stiffened him. He went down, but somehow stayed in it; Moore soon found himself in Belsanti’s guard while the Italian tried to buy time to recover. Belsanti worked elbows from the bottom, while Moore looked to do the same from above, working in ground and pound then moving to half guard. With half the round remaining, just surviving looked to be daunting for Giorgio Belsanti.
Then, as the pair worked their way to the feet, Moore was able to sink in a guillotine choke. Belsanti was backpedaling, but couldn’t shake of the choke. Tapping while still in motion as he backed up towards the fence, Belsanti had had enough. Moore had the win, via submission, making the trip to Hungary worth it.
