Maryna Moroz threw often, but hit mostly air, while Angela Hill connected early and often on her way to a one-sided unanimous decision at UFC Orlando.

Former Invicta FC strawweight champion and Ultimate Fighter 20 alumni Angela Hill was back in action Saturday at UFC on FOX 28. Her opponent, Maryna Moroz, was 3-2 in the UFC heading into UFC Orlando, while Hill was 2-1 in her most recent run. With both women looking to bounce back from recent losses, a win for both was critical here.

Moroz opened the action by throwing a number of high kicks at Hill that didn’t land but created space. Hill then closed the distance, landing a number of punches and leg kicks. Moroz fanned on a spinning back fist, while Angela Hill continued to connect. Her right hand was a factor early, resulting in swelling over the left eye of Moroz. Hill pressed the action, driving Moroz back to the fence. Her strikes were heavier, more accurate, and more frequent, easily securing her the round.

Hill continued her attack in round two, pressing forward while Moroz looked to circle out of harm’s way. She was showing considerable damage from Hill’s attacks, and more often than not hit air when she returned fire. The second saw a few new twists, as the fight actually went to the ground with Hill working from guard briefly. However, the pair did not stay down long, and Hill continued to land her right and threaten with an uppercut as the fight wore on. Moroz had a little flurry in the dying seconds of the round, but it was too little, too late.

Round three saw more of the same. Moroz continued to throw combinations that hit mostly air, with a high volume, but little impact. Angela Hill essentially outworked and outstruck her, being far more successful in the standup department. Hill would also catch a kick, briefly dumping Moroz on her back; Moroz wouldn’t stay down long, but it was perhaps symbolic of her struggles in the fight. Moroz never really got going, while Hill was consistent right out of the gate.

Angela Hill def. Maryna Moroz by unanimous decision(30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
