In the main event at UFC Austin, Donald Cerrone picked up a big win over surging Hawaiian Yancy Medeiros in a great finish to a spectacular evening of fights.

Whatever can be written about Cerrone vs. Medeiros at UFC Austin on Sunday night, one thing is clear: the bout saw some of the greatest displays of sportsmanship MMA has seen. From a hug before the fight, to Cerrone letting Medeiros up off a slip (and a second embrace following), it was a good, clean fight. That it ended with a big finish for ‘Cowboy’ was simply the cap to an incredible evening of fights, with not a dull effort in the bunch.

It was a feel-good fight, and even a feel-good finish. Incredibly, Medeiros, having just been knocked to the canvas by a Donald Cerrone right hand, even jumped the fence and embraced Cerrone’s beloved grandmother. Much to the approval of the crowd.

For Medeiros, it was the end of a three fight winning streak, but the young welterweight from Hawaii no doubt has big things ahead. Cerrone, meanwhile, snapped a three fight losing streak with a much needed win. A win that pulled him into a tie for most wins in the promotion, he noted after the bout.
