Rick Glenn had no answer on the feet or on the ground for Myles Jury on Saturday.

UFC 219 went down Saturday night, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Part of the televised preliminary action on FS1 (TSN in Canada), at featherweight, a pair of veterans collided. That bout saw Myles Jury facing off with Rick Glenn. Both fighters were looking to move up the ladder at 145lbs.

For Jury, it was just his third fight at featherweight in the UFC. He entered the night coming off a win over Mike De La Torre at UFC 210. Glenn, meanwhile, had won two straight, against Phillipe Nover and Gavin Tucker respectively.

Opening the action, the pair squard off along the fence. Jury went to the body with a right kick against the lefty Glenn. The Southpaw would look to land an uppercut in the clinch; the pair then reversed positions several times against the cage. Back in the middle, Myles Jury went to the body with a right kick again. A takedown attempt ended in a sweep with Jury on top, and he went to work inside the closed guard of Rick Glenn. It didn’t last long, with Glenn making it back up, and the pair trading high kicks. A fake right kick into a flying knee with a follow up punch showed how dangerous Jury was. Towards the end of the round, he’d look for a takedown, but to no avail.

Opening the second, Jury landed a left, and Glenn opted to tie the action up against the fence. He’d go with a right high kick next, blocked by Jury. Catching a kick, Rick Glenn dropped Jury backward but he rolled through right back to his feet. Glenn would manage to tie things up for a good while, until Jury was finally able to get him down at the two minute mark. With a hook in he was able to control Glenn, looking for a choke. Glenn showed some smart defense, controlling the wrists and moving enough to stay out of danger. Ultimately Jury gave up the back, and moved back into guard. Glenn kept active from the bottom, attacking with short punches and chops as Jury tried to find a home for his own blows.

With Myles Jury looking fresh in round three, Rick Glenn had his work cut out for him. Needing a finish, instead, Glenn pressed the action against the cage. Jury’s corner emphatically urged him to stay away from the grappling game, and stick to striking. They’d break; Glenn attacked the body with kicks then initiated the clinch again. Jury again broke free. Glenn landed to the body with a kick, Jury answered back with a knee.

With less than a minute left in the third, Jury scored another takedown, staying heavy on his opponent. That ate up the remainder of the round, allowing Myles Jury to cruise to victory.

Myles Jury def. Rick Glenn by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
