Canada’s Nordone Taleb put on a show in front of an appreciative Canadian crowd Saturday, finishing Danny Roberts early in round one.
UFC on FOX 26 took place in snowy Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada Saturday night. The final FOX card of 2017, welterweights Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos faced off in the main event. Earlier in the night, however, another welterweight pair went to war on the televised prelims. Canada’s Nordine Taleb took on Danny Roberts, with both fighters looking to extend their win streaks to two.
It was the Canadian who got the action going with a leg kick, only for Danny Roberts to answer back with an inside leg kick of his own. Taleb held the center of the cage, walking down his opponent and dictating the action early. Suddenly, with Roberts’ back to the fence, Taleb unleashed a big head kick. With his right leg connecting clean, Roberts was wobbled. A follow-up right hand sent him crashing to the ground, and that was the end of Roberts’ night. Danny Roberts, however, still dazed, argued the call, clearly unaware of how badly he’d been hurt, and still wobbly on his feet.
After the bout, Taleb called for a Performance of the Night bonus, noting that his big win over Erick Silva last year had gone unrewarded.
