After three rounds, there was no question as to who came out on top between Holtzman and Horcher at UFC Fresno.

UFC Fresno moved to the lightweight division for the third fight win, with Scott Holtzman taking on Darrell Horcher. Horcher, who survived a horrific motorcycle crash in 2016, was looking to make it two straight wins since his return to action.

When the action got underway in round one, the pair clinched against the fence. Horcher dropped a foot stomp, and was dumped on his back. He was stacked him up against the fence, but was able to power back up after eating some shots. Horcher then flipped the script, getting on top of Holtzman. While Holtzman would escape, Horcher got him down again. Ultimately, however, Holtzman did more with his control time.

Horcher was able to connect with a straight left early in round two — then landed it a second time, stunning Holtzman. A third came moments later, and Horcher appeared to be finding his range. Holtzman shot in for a takedown and scored it easily, derailing Horcher’s momentum. He maintained a dominant position until the two minute mark, when Horcher finally escaped. It was right back down, however, with Holtzman again landing the takedown. In half guard, he looked to score some damage, with a solid minute and a half to work. A questionable stand-up, however, interrupted his progress. He’d still take things back down yet again before round’s end.

In the third, Horcher worked his jab, and Holtzman immediately shot in. ‘Hot Sauce’ Holtman looked for an inside trip, then landed a heavy standing elbow. Holtzman would press for a takedown, with Horcher keeping his stance wide, only to be taken down regardless. Again, however, a questionable standup by ref Mike Beltran interrupted his work. It wouldn’t matter in the end, however: the bout went the distance, and Holtzman cruised to a one-sided victory.

Scott Holtzman def. Darrell Horcher by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
