The card was topped by LFA welterweight champion Jonathan Piersma, sort of. Piersma had been scheduled to defend his title against Brazil’s Diego Bianchini, but lost the title on the scale after missing weight on Thursday. That meant that only Bianchini was eligible to win the championship; should Piersma win, he would not retain the belt.

Lightweight champion Richie Miranda had no such trouble making weight for the co-main event, thankfully. Miranda was set to face off against Robert Varricchio for LFA’s 155lb strap.

On Friday the 13th, Adrian Garcia and Christian Natividad would be looking for a massacre. A perfect 8-0 as a pro with his entire career coming under the LFA banner, Natividad was no doubt hoping to follow the footsteps of brother Kevin, who had landed in the UFC in 2020.

For his part, Garcia was 3-1 under the LFA banner. The former Combate Global and Titan FC fighter’s only loss in the company had come to another high level prospect, Phumi Nkuta.

LFA 227 saw Japanese veteran Shuya Kamikubo returning to the company after winning his last two bouts under the LFA banner. He’d gone 6-0 for ONE Championship, and amassed a 16-2-1 record overall. “Stealth” had come up short in a Road to UFC appearance, but was looking to land in the UFC by way of arguably its biggest feeder promotion.

Opposite Kamikubo was Rafael do Nascimento, 5-2 under the LFA banner to date. “Mulisha” had challenged for the LFA bantamweight title in 2024 and, after coming up short, had gone on to win both his bouts since.

Also on the card, Bellator vet Theo Haig looked to bounce back from a loss on the Contender Series as he took on Lance Wright in a middleweight fight.

The main event found unbeaten David Allakhverdiev, the promotion’s reigning welterweight champion, looking to make the first defense of his 170lb title opposite Joe Kropschot. On a two-fight win streak, Kropschot was 1-1 in LFA, coming of a win over Adland Benson.

The LFA 226 card lost a fight on Thursday, when Christian Echols  hit the scales at 199.4 pounds for a 191lb catchweight with Andrew Stewart, who made weight. Due to the extreme weight miss by Echols, that fight was subsequently cancelled.

That title was last held by Denzel Freeman, who vacated it when he jumped to the UFC last September.
