Kicking off Saturday’s UFC 327 in Miami, Florida was a welterweight match-up between Charles Radtke and Francisco Prado.
“Chuck Buffalo” Radtke had stepped into the bout on short notice, replacing Christopher Alvidrez.
The opening round began with Prado applying pressure, forcing Radtke to retreat to the fence. A big left hook landed by Prado that stunned Radtke, who answered back moments later with a takedown of his own. Radtke was able to secure Prado on the ground for the next four minutes, jumping out to an early lead.
Radtke landed another well timed takedown in the second round, transitioning to the back with three minutes to go. Prado was able to reverse position and landed in full guard, where he connected with some solid shots. Elbows from the bottom by Radtke started a deep cut on Prado that was leaking a massive amount of blood.
Prado needed a finish in round three to win the fight, walking down Radtke to start the third. Moments later an eye poke would stop the action with Radtke obviously in pain. Referee Mark Goddard deemed the foul offensive enough to deduct a point. When action resumed Prado defended a takedown against the cage and separated to the center of the cage. Radtke went for a takedown and got caught in a guillotine choke that was very deep. Escaping moments later Radtke was now in top position.
The rest of the round was controlled by Radtke who scored a unanimous decision victory. A solid win for Radtke that should build confidence for him moving forward.
Official Result: Charles Radtke def. Francisco Prado by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)
