Light heavyweight Ion Cutelaba will return to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas for his next assignment.
Moldova’s Cutelaba (19-11-1, 1NC), who will celebrate a decade with the promotion this June, takes on Oumar Sy (12-1) as part of UFC Vegas 114 on March 14, 2026.
Cutelaba confirmed the match-up on social media following an initial report by MMA Junkie.
Ion “The Hulk” Cutelaba was last seen in Montreal, Canada at UFC 315 last May, where he lost a split decision against Modestas Bukauskas. The defeat snapped a two-fight win streak for the 32-year old, who is 8-10-1 in his near decade-long UFC career.
France’s Sy, 30, is 3-1 through four fights under the UFC banner, and most recently saw his hand raised over Brendson Ribeiro back in September. The TKO victory was Sy’s second stoppage in the UFC, after he submitted Tuco Tokkos in 2024.
The UFC’s decision to continue hosting events in the small footprint of the UFC Apex despite landing a $1.1 billion per annum U.S. broadcast deal with Paramount+ has been a contentious one, but the Apex shows will continue in 2026. UFC Vegas 114 currently has the following match-ups attached to it:
- Amanda Lemos vs. Gillian Robertson
- Beatriz Mesquita vs. Montserrat Rendon
- Bruno Gustavo da Silva vs. Lone’er Kavanagh
- Brad Tavares vs. Eryk Anders
- Kennedy Nzechukwu vs. Vitor Petrino
- Oumar Sy vs. Ion Cuțelaba
- You Su-young vs. Elijah Smith
