“Neil Magny always says he’s down, and then for some reason it never happens,” Holland told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“We’ve been trying to do this for about four years now. I don’t think it’s ever been offered to me, and I don’t know if it’s ever been offered to him. I just know, for some reason, it never happens. I’m always the one saying let’s go.”
Holland (28-14) enters his fight with Malott after a decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez at UFC 318 in July, a result he still doesn’t fully accept. He’s open to a rematch with Rodriguez or a long-awaited clash with Neil Magny for what would be his sixth bout of the year.
“I lost to one guy, and I don’t feel like I should have. The other guy (Magny) he has a great record, great style, he’s won a lot of fights,” he said.
“He has the most wins in welterweight history. To beat that guy would be a good feather in my cap.”
