UFC featherweight Steve Garcia may have fans a bit spoiled as many expect him to finish Calvin Kattar this Saturday night at UFC Nashville.
“I think a win over Kattar will definitely get me in the rankings. I’ve had to knockout I don’t know how many people to get here so I’m just going to keep going down in that direction,” Garcia told reporters on Wednesday.
“It’s not as easy as people make it seem. Like oh you just keep knocking people out. There’s a lot that comes with it. Specially against him I don’t think that dude’s ever been really finished. I think the only finish in his career was his injury.”
Garcia (17-5) may not be wrong in thinking a win over Kattar will get him that number next to his name that all fighters seek. Kattar currently sits at #14 and has been as high as #4 in 2022 following a win over Giga Chikadze in 2022. The next
“All of them. Honestly I want to headline a card at some point, even if it’s an APEX card, but that’s kind of next on my list. Just to get a fight like that, that’d be great. Something like, I think (David) Onama’s now in there, (Youssef) Zala’s in there, and (Josh) Emmett. One of those guys, but I got to focus on Kattar right now,” he said.
“I have a tall test ahead of me. I’m not going to live and die by a knockout, but that’s typically what happens. The main goal is to win,” he said.
