UFC middleweight Gerald Meerschaert returns to the APEX this time against Brad Tavares at UFC Vegas 105 on Saturday night and he hopes to put on another show for the fans.
“I enjoy being in a fun fight and I enjoy putting on fun fights, and that’s the thing,” Meerschaert told reporters on Wednesday.
“I don’t ever want to be in a fight where it’s like edged out on way or the other. Even if there’s a lot of grappling I’m trying to finish the fight at some point. If grappling’s not your thing necessarily I could see how maybe you’d complain about that.”
Meerschaert (37-18) has been in the UFC since 2016. With nearly 10 years in the promotion ‘GM3’ stats rank near the top of soem categories next to legendary fighters in MMA history.
“It’s something i’ll think about more when I’m done. For now I don’t think about it too much. I still got a lot of life left in me, and more fights to go in the cage. When it’s all said and done it’ll be cool to be like ‘oh yeah I’m a cool guy too’,” he said.
“For now it’s just another stat that you guys can put up there on the little teleprompter before I walk in.”
