Women’s strawweight action has been lined up for what is expected to be UFC Vegas 106 this May.
The newly reported fight will see veteran 115’er Tecia Pennington (14-7) face off against Luana Pinheiro (11-4) at the UFC Apex on May 17, 2025.
Ag.Fight was first to report news of the match-up, which was subsequently confirmed by Pinheiro on social media.
Fighting under the UFC banner since the women’s strawweight division was introduced back in 2014, Tecia Pennington (nee Torres), a.k.a. “The Tiny Tornado,” has been a regular presence in the weight class. After taking off 2023 due to the birth of her daughter with wife Raquel Pennington, Torres returned to action in 2024, splitting a pair of fights.
Those saw her lose a split decision against Tabatha Ricci, then send former champ Carla Esparza into retirement with a unanimous decision victory.
Pennington will be stepping into the octagon for the 18th time come May.
Luana Pinheiro will be looking to snap a three-fight skid in the bout, which has her in must-win territory. She’s dropped her last three to Amanda Ribas, Angela Hill, and most recently, Gillian Robertson.
