UFC welterweight, this fight at least, Kevin Holland isn’t in any hurry to slow down as he gets set to take on Gunnar Nelson at UFC London on Saturday night.
Holland (26-13) fought three times in 2024, and is already on his second fight in 2025. Even with 24 UFC bouts under his belt since 2018 he doesn’t see a reason to slow down now.
“I’ve thought about it before, but you know, it’s like every time I think about sitting down for a little while they call me,” Holland told reporters including Cageside Press on Thursday.
“And I’m like ‘hell yeah’.”
About the only thing that’s slowed Holland down is a rib injury he suffered against Roman Dolidze at UFC 307 last October, but the break didn’t last too long. He got the call to fight Reinier de Ridder in January.
“After I hurt the rib, it would have been smarter to sit down, but at the end of the day…sitting at home is kind of boring. Happy to be here,” he said.
Holland is well known for his activity. On Saturday night, he steps in the cage for his 20th fight since the beginning of 2020. While his results have been a mixed bag, Holland is nothing short of entertaining.
“I get paid to fight, I get paid to entertain people. It’s like, number one goal is to entertain people, second goal is to fight, but I can’t entertain people if I’m not fighting, so they go hand in hand,” he said.
Holland finds himself in a very important fight for his career at UFC London. Coming into this fight, he is riding a 2-fight losing streak, and his opponent is a nightmare matchup for him. Nelson, who is the polar opposite to Holland in multiple ways. Fighting style, personality and especially his activity.
The losing streak doesn’t cause Holland to lose too much sleep.
“Sh*t you feel pressure after one loss,” he said.
“I don’t think it’s too much of a difference.”
