ONE Championship returned to Qatar for ONE 171 on Thursday, with a card featuring both MMA and kickboxing title fights to close out the show.
In the main event, ONE strawweight champ Joshua Pacio and interim title holder Jarred Brooks faced off in a title unification bout that also served as the rubber match in their trilogy. Former UFC standout Brooks defeated Pacio in 2022 to claim the promotion’s strawweight championship, capping off an impressive run that began under the UFC banner.
In an immediate rematch last year, however, he lost his title via DQ following an illegal slam. He then claimed an interim title in a fight with Gustavo Balart, then wandered up to bantamweight, losing to Reece McLaren. Now it’s back to strawweight to face Pacio, who has not competed since the DQ win over Brooks last March.
The ONE 171 co-main event, meanwhile, saw Jonathan Haggerty look to defend his bantamweight kickboxing world championship opposite Wei Rui.
