Las Vegas – UFC welterweight Themba Gorimbo called his shot weeks ago, and it paid off as he’s set to face Vicente Luque at UFC 310 this Saturday night.
Gorimbo (14-4) fought at the UFC APEX in October, earning a victory over Niko Price, and then proceeded to say he’d like to step into this fight if either Luque or Nick Diaz fell out.
Diaz withdrew from the fight just weeks ago, and Gorimbo stepped in.
“I was just manifesting this that I would be here and when Diaz or Luque pulled out. They had options,” Gorimbo told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“But the last man standing was Themba Gorimbo. I’m here now and Saturday I will be a ranked fighter.”
Gorimbo comes in on an impressive 4-fight win streak with victories over Takashi Sato, Pete Rodriguez, Ramiz Brahimaj and Price.
“I’m grateful of Luque honestly. He does not have to fight me. He didn’t need to fight me. There’s nothing for him in this fight, but he has to fight me on Saturday and I have to go out there and win, and I’m going to win,” he said.
“It’s a blessing to be here. Welcome to the Mamba Show.”
