The short-notice co-main event expected for UFC Vegas 100 has itself been replaced by another short-notice co-main event.
The Fight Night card set for the UFC Apex this Saturday has certainly taken its lumps. After Cody Garbrandt was forced out of a fight against Miles Johns, Ricky Turcios vs. Benardo Sopaj was announced as the new co-headliner.
However, after both fighters successfully made weight on Friday, UFC officials announced that Turcios was out of the fight, the result of an undisclosed medical issue.
In its place, Gerald Meerschaert vs. Reinier de Ridder has been promoted to the new co-main event. That fight sees de Ridder, a former double-champ at middleweight and light heavyweight in ONE Championship, making his highly anticipated promotional debut.
Turcios last competed over the summer, losing a high-profile match-up against Mexican sensation Raul Rosas Jr.
With the loss of Ricky Turcios vs. Benardo Sopaj, Gaston Bolanos vs. Cortavious Romious moves to the main card. UFC Vegas 100 now features the following match-ups:
- Neil Magny vs. Carlos Prates
- Gerald Meerschaert vs. Reinier de Ridder
- Luana Pinheiro vs. Gillian Robertson
- Mansur Abdul-Malik vs. Duško Todorović
- Gaston Bolaños vs. Cortavious Romious
- Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Denise Gomes
- Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs. Zach Scroggin
- Matthew Semelsberger vs. Charles Radtke
- Cody Stamann vs. Da’Mon Blackshear
- Tresean Gore vs. Antonio Trócoli
- Melissa Mullins vs. Klaudia Syguła
