Dakota Ditcheva and Jena Bishop faced off in the second of two women’s flyweight semifinals at PFL Nashville, with the winner set to take on Taila Santos at the end of the season.
The fight was a contrast in styles, Ditcheva’s striking versus Bishop’s jiu-jitsu. To utilize that jiu-jitsu, however, Bishop would have to get the fight to the ground.
As it turned out, Jena Bishop did just that about 90 seconds in. She could not, however, keep Ditcheva down, though she would manage to turn much of the opening frame into a grappling battle along the fence. With roughly a minute and a half left in the round, however, Ditcheva closed the distance, clinched up, and fired a nasty knee, then dropped Bishop with a follow-up! Ditcheva went after Bishop following that second knee, but thought better of it, waving her up. Jena obliged and survived, momentarily. A little more pressure from Ditcheva, however, with a teep kick followed by a right hand that dropped Bishop again, and the ref had seen enough, waving off the affair shortly after.
Dakota Ditcheva, who won the PFL Europe tournament last year, now moves forward to the final of the PFL Global women’s flyweight tournament, where she faces UFC vet Taila Santos. Ditcheva also improved to 13-0 with the victory.
Official Result: Dakota Ditcheva def. Jena Bishop by TKO, Round 1, 3:54
