Manchester – UFC lightweight King Green and Paddy Pimblett may be entering their fight at UFC 304 with a bit of heat behind them, but the fighter formerly known as “Bobby” sees it a different way now.
“He’s been talking a lot and I felt like it’s been kind of pissing me off,” Green told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“But then I realized, thinking about it today, I was like…my sh*t has been tested through time. We know what I do. I do this every time.”
Green (32-15-1) insinuated that Pimblett hasn’t been put in a spot where he was really tested in the octagon.
“Yeah you come up short a little once in a blue moon, but his has not been tested. He has to go in there and deal with that. To say what you’re saying you got to go back that up. He threw a fight against Tony (Ferguson) that sh*t was a stinker. When I went to Tony it was a totally different reaction,” Green said.
It seems that Green’s problem with Pimblett stems from attitude, and really the UFC seemingly giving him the push. Pimblett said earlier than Green was the one who started talking first. King Green did not deny it.
“He’s correct. The thing is the kid was getting a little too brash. I’m a humble guy. For some reason he keeps kind of calling me the cocky guy. He’s the cocky f*cker. I’ve earned my spot. I’ve been here for so long I think I’m here 12 years now fighting. And not just 12 years where I fight once a year and I hang out. Consistently doing 4, 5 fights a year,” he said.
“He just started acting like he was like the big sh*t. I call him the spoiled kid. You got the whole house. Everything’s been built around you. He doesn’t realize the UFC’s working with him giving him every opportunity. They’re building you. I had to earn it. I’ve been forged by fire. They built you.”
