Two violent middleweights on the verge of being ranked in the top 15 will fight on August 24, 2024. Roman Kopylov and Brunno Ferreira are now slated for the main card of UFC Vegas 96 at the UFC APEX.
News of this matchup was first reported on Friday by AG Fight via X (formerly known as Twitter). Ferreira subsequently confirmed the booking on social media, reposting several reports about the fight.
Roman Kopylov (13-3) was last in action at UFC 302 earlier this month. He soundly defeated the formerly undefeated fighter, Cesar Almeida, in a controversial split decision. A former middleweight champion in the Russian promotion AMC Fight Nights Global, Kopylov made his debut with the UFC in 2019. After an 0-2 start with the promotional giant, Kopylov has now won five of his last six fights. He has finished all but one of his victories in the UFC and has an exciting striking style.
Brunno Ferreira (12-1) is 3-1 in the UFC. The sole loss in his career came against Nursulton Ruziboev when he was finished in the first round of that bout, last July. A 2022 Contender Series product, Ferreira took only one round to finish Gregory Rodrigues, Phil Hawes and most recently, Dustin Stoltzfus earlier this month. Ferreira has never heard the final bell in his entire pro MMA career and has scored two performance bonuses in his four UFC fights.
With the addition of exciting strikers, Kopylov and Ferreira, UFC Vegas 96 now has its first main card fight. Here’s how the card looked at the announcement of the bout:
- Roman Kopylov vs. Brunno Ferreira
- Dennis Buzukja vs. Danny Silva
- Jose Medina vs. Zach Reese
- Viacheslav Borshchev vs. James Llontop
