Despite rumors of a possible jump to the UFC, unbeaten French prospect Baissangour Chamsoudinov is back with the PFL.
Born in Chechnya and fighting out of Paris, welterweight Chamsoudinov (8-0) shot to stardom when he became the first man to defeat Cedric Doumbe in MMA earlier this year— albeit under strange circumstances. Their bout, which took place atop PFL Paris at the Accor Arena on March 7, 2024 saw Doumbe stopped by splinter, the result of debris in the cage.
It was widely expected that the league would run the fight back, but Chamsoudinov had apparently been competing under a one-off deal. While talk later emerged that the 22-year old might land elsewhere, league officials announced on Wednesday that they had signed “Baki” to an exclusive, multi-fight deal.
“I’m very happy to have signed with PFL as they are growing more and more just like myself as a developing fighter, so it’s perfect. The goal for my career has remained the same since the beginning, to become the best fighter on the planet. I’m here to clean out the division.” Baissangour Chamsoudinov was quoted as saying in a press release announcing the deal.
No timeframe for Chamsoudinov’s next fight has been revealed, and the announcement of his signing did not make clear whether he will compete in the PFL Global season, PFL Europe, or in standalone fights.
