Chris Gutierrez and Javid Basharat have agreed to a bantamweight fight on August 3, 2024. It’ll be added to an already stacked UFC Abu Dhabi card, at the Etihad Arena.
News of the bout was first reported by Marcel Dorff (via his various social media accounts) of Eurosport. Gutierrez later confirmed the booking via his Instagram Story.
Both men suffered unanimous decision losses in their last outings. And will be looking to get back in the win column on August 3.
Chris Gutierrez (20-5-2) took on Song Yadong in the next-to-last, main event of 2023. The fight was ‘El Guapo’s first main event in 12 fights with the promotion, dating back to 2018. Gutierrez went on an 8-fight win streak between 2019-2022 and since, has gone 1-2.
Javid Basharat (14-1) fought Aiemann Zahabi in March, losing the first bout of his career. A product of the 2021 season of the Contender Series, Basharat won three in a row to start his career with the UFC. All unanimous decision wins against solid competition in the likes of: Trevin Jones, Tony Gravely and Mateus Mendonca. ‘The Snow Leopard’ is 3-1, 1 NC in the UFC.
