Lucas Almeida Had To Learn How To Deal With Losing Streak

UFC APEX – UFC featherweight Lucas Almeida rides a two-fight losing skid into UFC Vegas 93 against Timmy Cuamba on Saturday night.

“I actually did a lot of work with my psychotherapist. It’s something that you have to do because I always said that your biggest enemy is actually yourself,” Almeida told reporters through a translator on Thursday.

“That’s what I want to show people. I want to overcome myself. Saturday I’m coming here to take what’s mine back.”

Almeida (14-3) dropped his last two following a successful UFC debut. Almeida looks to show that he’s much better than those losses.

“This is new to me. Never in my life, never in my career I actually had two straight losses. Just always racking up consecutive wins so it was new to me to actually go through that. Had to go through a lot of stuff to understand what’s happening, why’d that happen, and what can be done,” said Almeida.

“That’s the work that you put in. You want to show what you’re here for. I want to make sure that I inspire people. That I show why I’m here. To those who look up to me, because I do have people to inspire, they can do it as well.”
