Jalin Turner Reveals What the Biggest Card for Him Would Be Ahead of UFC 300

Las Vegas, NV — Since his fight with Bobby Green, it goes without saying that the profile of lightweight Jalin Turner is higher than ever.

Ahead of his return at UFC 300, however, Turner noted that he tunes a lot of it out.

“I mean, if I’m getting asked a question like that, then I guess it’s a testament to that in itself,” Turner (14-7) said during Wednesday’s UFC 300 media day, speaking with media outlets including Cageside Press. “I haven’t paid attention to it, I haven’t noticed too much of a difference. But hey, that’s a good outlook.”

Turner’s bout was the final addition to UFC 300, a card that was months in the making and marks another big milestone in the evolution of the UFC.

“It was a little bit of a surprise, yes,” he admitted. “I thought I was going to be put on a later date, but they ended up making it on this card so I thought ‘okay, let’s do it.” Adding that he’s “pretty consistent” in the gym, the timing of the fight was never a real concern for Turner.

As for the pairing with Renato Moicano, Turner didn’t have much to say— at first.

“He’s another opponent. That’s just what it is at the end of the day,” Turner said when asked about “Money” Moicano. Later, he opened up just a little more. On the ground in particular, Turner revealed that “My submission defense feels really on par. I started training jiu-jitsu in the gi again, so I feel good. Everything kind of aligned. I’m really well-versed for this opponent.”

Despite being part of numerous big events now, and even getting a “T-Mobile Turner” nickname unofficially, Jalin Turner added Wednesday that things can still get bigger.

“The biggest card I’m going to be a part of is the one that I get to headline.”
