6. Sorting Out the Land of Light Heavyweights
While UFC 300 is mostly filled with fighters in the lighter weight classes, there is a key fight in the 205 pound division that will likely sort out the title picture.
The returning Aleksandr Rakic is looking to pick up from his last appearance where he appeared to be on his way to a route of former champion Jan Blachowicz in a main event prior to suffering an injury in the fight that required surgery. Opposing him will be Jiri Prochazka who will be making his second appearance following his own serious injury, and more importantly will be looking to return to the win-column following his loss to Alex Pereira for the title he never lost in the cage.
While the fight itself has the potential to deliver serious carnage, it is also a key matchup toward sorting out the light-heavyweight title picture. Champion Pereira and former title holder Jamahal Hill are obviously headlining the card, and surging contender Magmomed Ankalaev is also on the cusp of title contention. That said, Rakic and Prochazka will get the exposure of easily the most anticipated event of the past several years and an exciting victory could boost their stock immensely. Taking the list of potential title challengers from four to two in one night almost ensures that fans will be treated to action packed performances from fighters looking to deliver.
