9. Jim Miller: The Last of a Dying Breed
As the saying goes: they just don’t make them like they used to.
Lightweight Jim Miller will become the only fighter to compete on the seminal UFC 100, 200, and 300 cards when he enters the cage in Las Vegas. The difference this time? He will do so as the UFC’s all-time leader in victories with 26 and counting.
Miller’s UFC run, due to it’s longevity, has become about a lot more than just the wins and losses. Having made his promotional debut in 2008, “A-10” has shared the cage with stars of several eras with names like Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard, Nate Diaz, Charles Oliveira, Anthony Pettis, and Dustin Poirier on his resume. But the most notable thing about his journey has been his consistency. Even heading into 2024, and coming off a victory, Miller elected to take a fight in January where the veteran could have potentially risked suffering an injury that kept him from a guaranteed spot on the year’s most anticipated event. Having dealt with Lyme disease for years as a professional, the fact that Miller has continued to take on all-comers has endeared him to fans who celebrate his accomplishment of entering the cage on Saturday.
Finally, if Miller didn’t have enough fan sentiment, he has already stated that regardless of the potential storybook ending he has no intention of retiring at UFC 300 and will compete beyond his fight with Bobby Green.
