The UFC has a main event for its May 18, 2024 Fight Night event, and it will see go-to Brazilian workhorse Edson Barboza once again headlining a show.

Barboza (24-11) is set to face Lerone Murphy (13-0-1) atop the card, expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV. News of the booking was first reported by journalist Laerte Viana.

For Edson Barboza, main event duty this May marks his fifth time headlining a UFC event, in a stint with the promotion that dates back to UFC 123 in Michigan in 2010.

In his first four main events, Barboza has posted a 1-3 record, and is working to claw his way back towards a .500 record on that front. Overall, the Brazilian striker has won two straight, picking up wins over Billy Quarantillo and Sodiq Yusuff last year.

Both match-ups earned Barboza post-fight bonuses.

As for Lerone Murphy, the Brit remains undefeated in the UFC as he enters his first headlining stint with the promotion. After debuting in a draw with Zubaira Tukhugov, Murphy has put together a five-fight win streak including victories over Ricardo Ramos and Makwan Amirkhani.

Murphy is ranked #14 in the UFC’s featherweight division currently, while Barboza sits at #11. The May 18 Fight Night card will mark the first bout of 2024 for both men.
