Las Vegas, NV – UFC lightweight Gabriel Benitez claims he didn’t know who Jim Miller was prior to booking a fight with him at UFC Vegas 84 on Saturday night.
“To be honest, I don’t watch fights, so I don’t know before (who this guy was),” Benitez told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“But I heard about him. I know he has a lot of fights and he’s a good fighter. I’m excited.”
It’s tough to believe someone when they say that they don’t know who someone like Miller is, but that doesn’t mean Benitez doesn’t have respect for him.
“The little bit that I know is he’s a good fighter, he’s a tough fighter, he’s not new in this. He’s like me. He wants to try to (put on a show) so I’m ready for that.”
Benitez is definitely aware that Miller is a tough out for anyone.
“In this level everyone (is) good so that’s why everyone, you know, they fight in this company. When we step (in) the octagon, it’s just him, the referee, and me,” Benitez said.
“I don’t care about he’s good. I do my game plan, I trained hard, and that’s it.”
