Patricio Pitbull tried it and came up short. Conor McGregor never even attempted it, neither in the UFC nor Cage Warriors. On Saturday at KSW 89, however, it was Salahdine Parnasse’s turn to try for a third simultaneous world title.
Already owner of KSW’s featherweight and lightweight titles, the double-champ was looking for a third crown when he took on Adrian Bartosinski at welterweight. Long one of the brightest prospects outside the major promotions, and third title for Parnasse would cement his star status.
The KSW 89 card in Gliwice, Poland was more than a one-trick pony however. In addition to the massive main event, middleweight champ Pawel Pawlak put his belt on the line against promotional legend Michal Materla. Marcin Held, meanwhile, a former Bellator MMA, PFL, and UFC star, was set to make his promotional debut against Rauli Tutarauli. Fighting since his teens, it was almost a shock to learn that Held, from Poland, had never fought for the country’s largest MMA promotion.
Also in action, another UFC alum, Viktor Pesta, in a heavyweight match-up with Szymon Najor.
