Nasrat Haqparast and Jamie Mullarkey were an early choice on paper for Fight of the Night at UFC Vegas 83 when the card was first announced.
Mullarkey in particular had become known for being in bangers, and had claimed three post-fight bonuses since arriving in the UFC in 2019. By the end of the night, however, it was lightweight opponent Haqparast who had a chance to cash in.
It was Haqparast who landed a debilitating blow early, dropping Jamie Mullarkey after some feeling out and a few kicks. As Mullarkey went down off the left hand, Harparast went in for the kill— but the Australian was climbing back up, covering up while eating more blows as Haqparast uncorked uppercut after uppercut. Just as he got back to his feet, clearly wobbled, Mullarkey toppled over once more, crashing back to the mat.
The referee had clearly seen enough, waving off the fight and giving Nasrat Haqparast his third straight win, after picking up victories against John Makdessi and Landon Quinones.
The finish of Jamie Mullarkey was Harparast’s first stoppage victory since 2019, when he knocked out Joaquim Silva. The German-born fighter, out of Morocco, earned a Performance of the Night that night, and might pick up another bonus for his performance at UFC Vegas 83. Following the win, he called for the UFC to visit Morocco, where it has not traveled to date.
