Las Vegas, NV – UFC lightweight Jamie Mullarkey looks to extend his win streak coming off a hard-fought win when he faces Nasrat Haqparast at UFC Vegas 83.
Mullarkey last fought against John Makdessi in a tough 3-round fight that he took by decision.
“It was good to get that fight experience that last fight against a veteran like Makdessi,” Mullarkey told reporters on Wednesday.
“Getting my timing, taking my time, learning when to pull the trigger. Different things like that when you’re in there with a guy like that, that’s been around for so long and had so many high-level fights. You’re going to learn those little things.”
Makdessi had just fought Haqparast in a 3-round bout that he dropped by decision, but Mullarkey hopes he doesn’t have to go all 15 minutes at UFC Vegas 83.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I want to finish him. I want to get this done in one if possible,” he said.
The UFC lightweight division is so stacked that a few different fighters lay claim to the next title shot. Mullarkey chimed in on the state of 155.
“I would have though that (Justin) Gaethje would be the next guy (for a title shot) if I’m being honest. From that performance with Poirier. Everyone is so close and so highly talented,” Mullarkey said.
“It’s an exciting division man.”
