New York, NY – UFC featherweight Pat Sabatini is finally fighting in front of a big crowd and he’s taking it all in as he prepares to take on Diego Lopes at UFC 295 on Saturday.
“It’s definitely, you know, more incentive there. Feel like performing in front of a, I would call it a home crowd because I’ve got a lot of people coming up, it’s real nice not having to fly out,” Sabatini told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“It’s just been a great fight week and man I’m excited.”
Excited as he is to have friends and family in the crowd he has a dangerous opponent in Lopes. Lopes had a standout performance in his UFC debut even though he came up short of the win.
“He’s a great fighter, very well rounded, and it’s going to be a fun one on Saturday. Very, very excited for it,” he said.
With two high-level grapplers going at it in the octagon it’s possible that the fight turns into a striking battle.
“I just feel like I’m better on the feet and I’m better on the ground,” said Sabatini.
Training all over Philadelphia gives Sabatini plenty of different looks, different partners, and different skills. The overall strength of the city’s MMA scene shows with the fighters coming out of there.
“Our team is just getting started. There’s people that have not made it to the UFC yet on our team that are more than ready,” he told Cageside Press.
“I’m really excited to see what the future holds for our team.”
