UFC heavyweight Ciryl Gane was allegedly robbed while he took part in UFC Paris on Saturday night.
Le Parisian was the first to report the news.
Thieves broke into Gane’s home in Nogent-sur-Marne while he fought in the main event of UFC Paris against Serghei Spivac and made off with $150,000 Euros worth of items. The total is roughly $166,000 dollars. The items included jewelry including a Rolex that belongs to the heavyweight.
Police were alerted to Gane’s home on Sunday morning and found that the front door showed signs of forced entry. The report says an anonymous source revealed that a member of Gane’s team may have given the thieves the fighter’s schedule in order to set up the robbery.
No arrests have been reported as of this post.
Gane (12-2) took the victory over Spivac via second round TKO in what the heavyweight hopes will bring him back towards a title shot sooner than later. He’s 2-2 in his last four bouts with losses to former champion Francis Ngannou and current champion Jon Jones.
Fellow heavyweight Tom Aspinall has been campaigning for a fight with Gane following UFC Paris, but Gane has stated that he’s willing to wait and see what happens between Jones and former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic later this year.
