The UFC has booked Joe Pyfer, one of last year’s Contender Series notables, for his next fight.
“Bodybagz” Pyfer (11-2) will face the hard-hitting Abdul Razak Alhassan (12-5) in a middleweight match-up as part of the promotion’s October 7, 2023 Fight Night event.
News of the booking was announced by Pyfer himself on social media.
Kicking off Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022, the first week of the show had just one fighter earning a UFC deal — Joe Pyfer. That lead to a memorable speech from Dana White, suggesting fighters wanting to win their way into the promotion “be Joe Pyfer!”
Pyfer himself did not disappoint in his promotional debut, knocking out Alen Amedovski inside of a round less than two months later. He followed that up with another first round finish, of veteran Gerald Meerschaert, this past April.
In between, Pyfer has also competed in grappling, against the likes of Eryk Anders and Meerschaert, winning those matches as well.
Alhassan is 2-1 in his last three fights, with wins against Alessio Di Chirico and Claudio Riberio sandwiching a loss to Joaquin Buckley.
The UFC’s October 7 card currently has the following match-ups reported for it:
- Drew Dober vs. Ricky Glenn
- Alexander Hernandez vs. Bill Algeo
- Johnny Muñoz Jr. vs. Aori Qileng
- Kanako Murata vs. Vanessa Demopoulos
- Chris Gutiérrez vs. Montel Jackson
- Daniel Pineda vs. Khusein Askhabov
- Nate Maness vs. Mateus Mendonca
- Joe Pyfer vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan
